Welcome to Moorland Tutoring
My name is Megan, and I am a primary school teacher with four years of experience and a BEd in Primary Education, specialising in English. I am passionate about nurturing a love of reading and writing in children and supporting those who need extra help with literacy. I’m currently working towards becoming a specialist literacy teacher in 2025, with a focus on delivering effective, tailored support for children with literacy needs in Devon. I also have a love for children’s literature and poetry, having seen the magical effect that reading poetry aloud can have on children’s confidence and enthusiasm for reading during my time as a class teacher - so feel free to ask me for recommended reads!
In 2024, I started Moorland Tutoring with a strong desire to support children who may be struggling with low confidence or learning difficulties. I aim to provide a nurturing, one-to-one environment where every child feels safe, heard, and encouraged to grow. By helping them thrive outside the classroom, I hope to empower them to feel more confident and capable within it.

The other important member of Moorland Tutoring is my faithful companion, Otta, my loveable and cheeky one-year-old Labrador who loves her walks on the moor. Otta is a firm favourite with the children who come for after-school tuition, always welcoming them in with a wagging tail and happily awaiting a gentle pet or a cuddle after their session!
