Welcome to Moorland Tutoring
My name is Megan, and I am a primary school teacher with over four years of classroom experience and 19 years working with children. I am passionate about nurturing a love of reading and writing in children, and about supporting those who need extra, targeted help to develop their literacy skills.
In 2025, I qualified as a specialist dyslexia teacher, with a particular focus on identifying individual learning needs and delivering structured, evidence-based support. I work patiently and empathetically to build children’s confidence, helping them develop effective strategies for reading, spelling and writing at their own pace.
Alongside this, I have a real love of children’s literature and poetry. During my time as a class teacher, I have seen the powerful impact that reading poetry aloud can have on children’s confidence, enjoyment and enthusiasm for reading - so please feel free to ask me for recommended reads!
In 2024, I created Moorland Tutoring with a strong desire to support children who may be struggling with low confidence and learning difficulties. I aim to provide a nurturing one-to-one environment where every child feels safe, heard and encouraged to grow. By helping children thrive outside the classroom, I hope to empower them to feel more confident and capable within it.
An important part of Moorland Tutoring is Otta, my lovable one-year-old Labrador, who adores her walks on the moor. Otta is a firm favourite with the children who attend after-school sessions, always greeting them with a wagging tail and happily waiting for a gentle fuss or cuddle after their lesson.
